Can someone please tell me why I keep seeing the same damn turkey chillin’ out on the side of the road?
I’m kinda worried about this, friends. Do you think it is trying to find its way home? Sometimes I drive past the zoo on my way home, so I thought maybe it escaped.
I know Pittsburgh is a little more deciduous than the average city, but still. I really don’t understand why there are turkeys walking alongside the highway!
This turkey is gonna end up killed. And I’d hate to drive past a pile of lifeless feathers. I mean, if the bird’s gonna lose its life, I’d prefer it happen for the sake of Thanksgiving.
Since it’s hanging out so close to the zoo, it doesn’t feel right to do nothing. Natural selection can be such a bitch, you know. Do you think I should call the zoo or let nature run its course? Do any of you people know how to capture a turkey?

I’ve met more than my fair share of wild turkeys (and not the liquor). They can be ornery little buggers. You might just want to let nature run its course. It’s all part of the circle of life.
Thanks Rafiki.

hilar. girl. you gotta embrace and love it. What city other than Pittsburgh do you get to see deer and wild turkey roaming about?
Eh. I love my city, but I’m not sure I’m quite ready to “embrace” the wildlife.

I think the best bet would be to call animal control. They can relocate him to a bit safer area possibly. Just imagine if someone hit him, its pretty dangerous to motorists and the turkey.

Thanks! You’re so helpful!

I saw turkeys a lot in Boston…wild turkeys are making a comeback I suppose. We were told to call Animal Control if we suspected they would act aggressive towards people or in danger of getting hurt. Keep us posted!

i saw a turkey standing on the corner looking like it was waiting to cross the street.
this was on my way to work when i usually see deer. i say just leave it alone, it will probably end up getting hit by a car.
I see lots of deer too. And in Boyfriend’s neighborhood, there’s a pit bull running loose. What gives with all the animals lately?

That’s so weird. I would maybe give the Zoo a call or Animal Control to see if they can catch it. I sometimes see peacocks walking down the main road in my town near the zoo. I always try to give them a call so none of the birds are run over.
Good luck! I think it’s wonderful that you want to get to the bottom of this and help the bird out. At least until Thanksgiving!
Ha! Ya, if I see him again, I’m definitely going to give a call.

There are turkeys all over the city but they go into hiding in the month of November….;-)
Ain’t that the truth?

I think that nature just has to run its course on this one. If you see it there much longer, call animal control. It might be hurt or something.
Ya, I agree. I’ve only ever seen him walking on the same patch of land.

How big is the turkey?
Umm. Not extremely big, but not small either. It might be able to do some damage to a car, if that’s what you’re asking!

Maybe you should just try animal control. They would know what to do, and I doubt they’d kill it. Er, at least I’d like to hope they wouldn’t.
I’d like to think not too. I guess we’ll see.

OMG I am in Scranton, PA right now and have seen a turkey like everyday (I think it’s the same one) near a highway. WTF?
I’m such a city girl, it’s not even funny. Ha!
