I have no shame and why should I? I’m pretty darn awesome.
So my organization has developed an online, career mentoring program for high school students and we need mentors. Yesterday in staff meeting, my boss announced that there will be a contest to see which staff member can recruit the most mentors this month. Of course, I want to win, but I need some help.
Basically, career mentors exchange one or two guided emails a week with a student about career topics. The program lasts for about ten weeks. The time commitment is minimal and the program is convenient because everything is done right in front of your computer through our secure website (no personal contact information is ever shared).
The only requirement is that mentors have their Act 33/34 clearances.
If you’re a working adult or are attending graduate school, you will be perfect for this. Honest, you will. No matter how inexperienced you think you are, you have tons more experience than a high school kid. I’m sure many of you can handle writing a thirty minute email a week about your job/educational experience. Think of how much you would’ve benefited from a program like this.
If you have any interest, even the teensiest amount, email me at quarterlifelady@gmail.com.
I need you…the kids need you.
But I need you too. I want to win!

I’d love to do this, but I don’t have any sort of clearance… Nor would I have a clue about how to obtain it. (And if there’s a cost to getting clearance, I’m broke as a joke!)
Yes, I know. The clearances are the hardest part, if you don’t have them already.

More information about the clearances can be found here, if anyone can swing the cost ($10 per clearance).

And the criminal record check can be done online!

Wish I thought I would be a benefit to kids. But my sister makes it clear that I am a horrible influence on her kids. She thinks I’m like the poster for what not to do with your life.
(yes, she’s a bitch).

Unfortunately I’m a high schooler myself, so I can’t help much. But this is one great program!

Probably can’t do this if I’m in Canada, hey?

I may sign up. I’m 22 and stuck in a dead end job. If I can help a high school avoid this shithole, then yes…
I laughed for five minutes after reading this. Sign up! And let me know if you have questions!

I would love to do this, but not sure if I’d be able to where I’m in Canada. By the time we’d get everything set up, it might be too late. Good luck, though! I hope you win!
